Coyote Yurt Ski Trip and a just-for-fun map

In February I went on a backcountry ski trip to Coyote Yurt, a backcountry yurt in the Smokey Mountains near Sun Valley, ID. Even though the area was short on snow, we found powder turns all day - I guess that’s the magic of the mountains and the reward that comes with having to work hard for your turns! It’s real special to be able to sleep in the mountains in winter - unlike summer trips, you won’t run into many other people out there because… it’s cold! While ultimately I hate getting out of my warm sleeping bag to make a trip to the outhouse in the middle of the night, it’s a treat to stand in the cold moonlight, knowing it’s just you and the critters moving around amongst those big, quiet mountains.

Partly as a way to remember the trip, and partly as a creative exercise, I decided to make a fairly quick and fun map of the area. I love how it turned out and if I can manage it, I’d love to keep making these adventure trip maps for future excursions.
